Regina Campbell has been providing the overall project management for the Rikers Public Memory Project, organizing the collection of over 100 oral histories of people who were incarcerated at the Rikers Island Jails, ensuring that the stories of those who have suffered because of Rikers are preserved.

Regina brings an incredible wealth of private, non-profit, and government experience in organizational development and planning, implementing, and monitoring programs. She dedicated four years to service leadership in Belize, developing educational systems for youth and creating economic opportunities for women. Upon her return to the U.S., Regina worked to break the cycle of illiteracy, poverty, and low expectations by helping families in low-income communities address the barriers to lasting success through education and career programs.

Regina has an MBA in Organizational Management from Georgia State University Robinson College of Business, Atlanta.

Sam brings a strong background in organizing, relationship-building, and trauma-informed support to their role as Community Care Coordinator. Their work centers on bringing neighbors together through meetings, community events, and healing circles, creating spaces rooted in connection, dignity, and care. Sam holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and is currently pursuing an MSW, with additional training in yoga, social-emotional learning (SEL), and attachment theory coaching. For 5+ years, Sam has supported New Yorkers navigating eviction prevention and housing instability. Grounded both professionally and personally, Sam brings a deep understanding of systemic barriers through lived proximity to family and friends who have been system-impacted, informing a compassionate, equity-centered approach to community care.

As founding director of the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience and HAL, Liz has spearheaded several nationally traveling, community-created public memory projects, including States of Incarceration and Climates of Inequality.

Piper Anderson is a storyteller, coach, master facilitator, and Founder of Create Forward, a social impact firm delivering creative experiences that advance equity and justice. In spring 2016, Anderson was awarded a TED Residency to develop an innovative storytelling project called Mass Story Lab. Mass Story Lab has traveled to more than thirteen U.S cities, making the stories of people impacted by incarceration an instrument of justice. In her TED Talk, “Can Stories Create Justice?” She challenges us to throw out punitive notions of justice and imagine a justice system that builds and restores humanity. In 2018 she co-founded the Rikers Public Memory Project, an oral history project documenting the legacy of Rikers Island through the narratives of generations of New Yorkers who have experience with the penal colony.

Best known for her masterful facilitation, she is in high demand nationally for her training, speaking, and consulting with institutions on how to make workplaces and communities more inclusive and equitable. Her writings about organizational culture, racial equity, and community healing and accountability are featured in FastCompany, Audible for Business, Stanford Social Innovation, Huffington Post and more.

Piper Anderson was Professor at NYU’s Gallatin School and a founding member of the advisory board and faculty of NYU’s Prison Education Program for more than ten years. She has guest lectured at universities across the country, including Harvard Law, Columbia University, Georgetown, and the New School. She is a New School Writing Democracy Fellow, a Culture Push Fellow for Utopian Practice, a Civic Hall Organizer in Residence, TED Resident, Aspen Ideas Scholar, and the Laundromat Project’s first Radical Imagination Fellow. Piper has dedicated her life to providing leaders with the generative spaces and tools they need to build thriving communities and organizations.
